The Lands End Ghost

I have been thinking and planning out our beach vacation this year and it reminded me that we may have seen a ghost last year on our beach vacation.  My husband, and two children are convinced anyway, and they are the skeptics.  I am the one who watches ghost hunter and paranormal state an I was a little skeptic.  Anyway here is the story believe it or not....
We camped at Huntington Island last year for our beach vacation and we drove about 30 minutes away to St. Helena Sound to explore some old Fort Ruins that were open to the public.  The only way to the ruins is down this long straight road called Lands End Road.  We had read on the internet that there was a specific tree on this road and if you parked beside it at night that you would see a light coming down the road and it would fly past you and be scary, yada, yada, yada.  So after we explored the ruins and we were leaving we parked by the tree.  Now, it wasnt quite dark yet, but you could still see lights in the distance.  I think they were distant car lights and experts  have studied it and attributed it to swamp gas....My husband and kids think it was the Lands End Ghost.  So we hop in our truck and start to leave and the truck kind of sputters a bit.  The headlights wont come on and the gas is on empty ( we had a half tank when we left the ruins ).  As we were driving, and discussing what in the world could have happened to the truck and why were we suddenly out of gas we all notice a rather large black man walking down the side of the road.  He was walking kind of weird, like Frankenstein or (in my husbands words) like rigamortis was setting in.  He had on a big heavy blue coat and a blue cap and we were astonished because it was 101 degrees outside.  So we are driving by him and I think he stuck his tongue out at us.  And I prolly would have too if i was walking down the road and a truck full of people drove by with their mouths gaping and eyes wide at me.  My husband and kids think that white light came out of his mouth....I didnt see it.  We are still driving and everyone turns around to continue to stare at this poor guy but he is gone....vanished into thin air.  We ended up pulling over to check out an old church and when we got back in the truck the gas was back up and everything worked fine.
Our picture of the Lands End Tree ( the big lone tree on the right)
You can even see the light in the distance
So, when we returned home I googled the event and found out a few interesting things.  The Lands End Tree is where they used to hang slaves back in civil war times and the area is filled with sightings of confederate and union soldier ghosts.  The coat and hat the man was wearing was almost identical to the color and style of union soldiers during the civil war.  So did we see a ghost?  I dont know but it is a fun story to tell anyhow and we definitively wont forget that vacation.

These Are A Few of My Favorite Things

My family is my favorite thing.  I have been in a relationship with my high school sweetheart since the age of 15.  We  have two sons, Faron age 12 and Kaden age 4.  Both are in school.  I hate winter and I usually hibernate during the winter months.  I catch up on reading and movies during that time.  I like all kinds of movies so its kind of hard to name a favorite.  If I had to choose one I would say "Last of the Mohicans".  I remember it from my childhood and have watched it a million times and still love it.  I like to read, mostly fantasy, science fiction, and horror, but not limited to those. Definitely could not choose one favorite book, but some of my favorites are:  "The Witching Hour" series, "Water for Elephants", "Behind Enemy Lines". I read Twilight and liked it, just for the record.  The movies not so much.  When I'm not hibernating I love to be outdoors.  We go to the mountains hiking, fishing, boating, and swimming every chance we get.  My favorite river is the Nantahala   in NC.  I have went down it twice in an inflatable kayak and it was super fun. So these are just a few of my favorite things.  I am still adding to the list.
