What the Tornado!

Well, as I am sure everyone knows we have had absolutely insane weather the last year. The average amount of tornados was like 80 for the season last year and we have had 220 this year. There have bee more earthquakes, there was the tsunami in Japan; there has just been some pretty nasty stuff goin on with mother nature. I dont know why it is, maybe Earth is pissed at us for burnin holes in the atmosphere. Anyway, I watched this movie about a guy who kept having storm dreams that were making him want to build a bomb shelter. He did and everyone thought he was crazy. So his wife makes him go see a thereapist and they decide to go on one last trip to the beach before the husband has to go to the Mental facility. So there on the beach and they look up and its 3 tornados, a tsunami, and acid rain. He was right the whole time and if they jsut would have listened to him they would have survived. SO....ever since I watched this movie, (which was like 3 months ago), I have recurring dreams about tornados. I am always running from them and have no place to hide. Also, there have been beaucoups of tornados ripping through the states. So, call me crazy, but I want a bomb shelter.

Whats That Sound?

So I was just looking back at all my blogs I have written so far and they kind of suck.
Anyway I got to thinking about the town that keeps hearing booms underground. I dont know alot about it just what my husband has told me and that is that the town keeps hearing these terrible booms coming from underground and they do not know what it was. At first, they said it was tiny earthquakes and now they are saying it is not. Anyhow that is all I know about it. Now what I want to blog about is what could it be if it is not an earthquake. I have a couple theories.
  1. The government is preparing for the apocalypse by making an underground city just for the military and government officials ( the citizens of America get screwed out of this deal ).
  2. Transformers are real....that would be pretty cool. They were aliens that were buried underground thousands of years ago.
  3. There are giant worms that are running out of food and are getting closer to the earths crust in search for food. Imagine the worms from Beetle Juice or Tremors.
  4. The everlasting search for oil is messing with the earth and some kind of diabolical movement is going on under there.
O.K. the last one was grasping at straws, but the other three just might could happen. Hopefully, the town lives to see another day and none of the above is the cause for the unexplained booms going on.

Orange Polo or Orange Jumpsuit?

So I have been reading and hearing alot about the kid from Florida named Treyvon that got shot and killed. From my understanding, the shooter (Zimmerman), who was the neighborhood watch leader, called the cops when he saw the victim (Treyvon) walking around his neighborhood at night. Zimmerman then went after Treyvon on foot even after the police told him not to. When Zimmerman eventually catches up to Treyvon there is a scuffle and Treyvon gets shot and killed. Treyvon was unarmed. On the 911 calls made that night from the neighborhood you can hear someone screaming "HELP". At first I thought well he was this poor innocent guy and Zimmerman was on a power trip and killed him. But, then a witness surfaced saying that Treyvon was beating Zimmerman to a pulp and that Zimmermand shot him in self defense. Then I  start seeing the real pictures of Treyvon and Zimmerman and I think to myself maybe the media was being a bit biased on this case. The first pictures I saw showed a closeup of a not so happy Zimmerman in an orange shirt that at first glance makes you think of an orange jumpsuit from prison. The first picture of Treyvon was a young cute  boy smiling and wearing a Hollister shirt and it makes you think poor kid, hes wearing Hollister he can do no wrong. Then I saw the more recent pictures of the two guys. Zimmerman smiling in a suit and tie. When I looked at the other picture I noticed that they had zoomed in so far that you couldn't tell what he was wearing, you just saw the orange and it made you think prison, but it could have been a collared shirt or whatever. Anyway, the second picture of Treyvon was of a shirtless guy sagging his pants and flipping the bird. So I dont know what happened that night; was it in self defense or was a guy on a gun toting power trip? What I do know is I feel pretty foolish because I fell for the medias biased portrayal of two men and now I dont know what to believe. It kind of makes me not want to watch the news because I feel like I am being led like a sheep or something.

Terrible Food

Due to writing a cause and effect essay recently about the corruption of the FDA, it has opened my eyes a good about how messed up our government is. I dont claim to know everything about everything, but I dont think we have any control over our government right now. The FDA, for example. The people that make up the FDA are not voted in, they are chosen by poloticians. This is horrible because this is not giving the people of America any kind of say about what they are putting in their bodies. What is good to eat and what isnt. I even read one article that had to do with companies threatening cherry growers for saying that cherries have the same properties as over the counter pain medication. It is illegal to state facts because some one might lose some money. It would be illegal for a prune juice company to say that prune juice may act as a laxative, even though it is true. And then the stuff they are putting in our food and feeding the animals we are eating is terrible too. So what can we do? Try to buy organic things, but how organic are they really and not to mention organic foods tend to be pricey. I am on a budget at the grocery store as it is. I just feel like I am stuck buying chicken and beef flavored poison. Maybe I should just be a vegan. Nah.

Eww Boogers

I have been thinking about my major and I have decided to make a list of all the pros and cons of being a nurse.
Pros:
  • Feel good about helping others
  • Have a good idea of what kind of sick  your kid brought home
  • Have a good respectable career
  • Make good money
  • Can work literally anywhere in the US or outside of the US
  • Depending on what kind of nurse you are (lets say ER nurse) you would see lots of interesting things every day

Cons:
  • Boogers, unfortunately I cant stand boogers.  I can deal with bodily fluids, vomit, blood, anything but a booger.
  • You might get attached to a patient and they die
  • If there was a zombie apocalypse or plague of some kind, more than likely, you would be the first to get it.
I am sure there are more, but that is all I can think of right now. Pros are outweighing the cons, so that is good. Maybe I can get used to boogers.  I am not exactly sure what kind of nurse I want to be yet, but I think I am going in the right direction.

Danger in School

So there was yet another school shooting on the news today. It is really sad and kind of scary because I realized, hey I go to school. Either people are bringing up more and more psychopaths or people are being really mean to each other to make someone want to go on a killing spree. It just blows my mind.  I hated high school, but I would have never thought of doing such a thin Maybe I would day dream about punching someone in the nose, but that was as far as it went. In fact I was, in school when Columbine happened. It was my Junior year. We didn't even have metal detectors in our high school. School was much smaller back then too.  I think there were like 400 students in my high school. I went to West Oak, but still. They have had to add on a floor since then.  I dont know how many students they have now, but Im sure it is more than 400. I can not imagine what the students that were there during the shooting are going through.  I watched a movie called "April Showers" recently. It was based on Columbine and I just cried the whole movie. I think teachers should be able to carry some kind of protection. That just sounds terrible. Teachers needing to be armed at school sounds terrible. Such is the world we live in I guess.

I wish I was a little bit taller....

I wish I was a little bit taller.  I wish I had a pool full of money and that I could swim in it like Scrooge McDuck  from Duck Tales. I wish we had cars like the Jetsons and they even made that funny little sound when they went by.  Also, a robot maid named Rosy would be extremely nice.  I wish I could eat whatever I want and have no consequences.  I wish there really were pots of gold at the ends of rainbows..although if there were, then rainbows probably wouldn't be peaceful anymore because there would be riots and murder at the end of them due to the massive amounts of people that would be going for the gold.  I wish people stopped  aging at 25.  I wish summer would hurry up and get here. I wish I had a closet dedicated to nothing but shoes like some of the people on Cribs.  In fact any one of the house of the show Cribs would be nice to have.  I guess if I had absolutely everything I wanted life wouldn't be very fun.  I would have nothing to look forward to.

Dirty Diaper in a Plate?

So when is it ok to leave a dirty diaper in a dish at a restaurant?  I work as a server and tonight I was thoroughly disgusted.  Not only did the patrons at my place of employ let their kids grind crackers into the carpet, but as I was cleaning up the table after they left I found a dirty diaper in the plate.  What makes that ok? I'm convinced that they hate me.  Actually, this is not the first time it has happened either.  Although, I have been there for 12 years and it has only been about three times...still.  I know when my kids were babies I wouldn't even leave a dirty diaper in someones trash for fear it would stink up the place.  I would tote around those scented bags and just put it in the diaper bag and then throw it away when I got home.  Not just the diaper but the crackers were bad too.  They were little crushed into millions of pieces and it looked like they had just spun around with the bag so the crumbs were good and spread out and then danced in them.  I know I am not the best server ever, but I don't think people think when they go out to eat sometimes.

The Lands End Ghost

I have been thinking and planning out our beach vacation this year and it reminded me that we may have seen a ghost last year on our beach vacation.  My husband, and two children are convinced anyway, and they are the skeptics.  I am the one who watches ghost hunter and paranormal state an I was a little skeptic.  Anyway here is the story believe it or not....
We camped at Huntington Island last year for our beach vacation and we drove about 30 minutes away to St. Helena Sound to explore some old Fort Ruins that were open to the public.  The only way to the ruins is down this long straight road called Lands End Road.  We had read on the internet that there was a specific tree on this road and if you parked beside it at night that you would see a light coming down the road and it would fly past you and be scary, yada, yada, yada.  So after we explored the ruins and we were leaving we parked by the tree.  Now, it wasnt quite dark yet, but you could still see lights in the distance.  I think they were distant car lights and experts  have studied it and attributed it to swamp gas....My husband and kids think it was the Lands End Ghost.  So we hop in our truck and start to leave and the truck kind of sputters a bit.  The headlights wont come on and the gas is on empty ( we had a half tank when we left the ruins ).  As we were driving, and discussing what in the world could have happened to the truck and why were we suddenly out of gas we all notice a rather large black man walking down the side of the road.  He was walking kind of weird, like Frankenstein or (in my husbands words) like rigamortis was setting in.  He had on a big heavy blue coat and a blue cap and we were astonished because it was 101 degrees outside.  So we are driving by him and I think he stuck his tongue out at us.  And I prolly would have too if i was walking down the road and a truck full of people drove by with their mouths gaping and eyes wide at me.  My husband and kids think that white light came out of his mouth....I didnt see it.  We are still driving and everyone turns around to continue to stare at this poor guy but he is gone....vanished into thin air.  We ended up pulling over to check out an old church and when we got back in the truck the gas was back up and everything worked fine.
Our picture of the Lands End Tree ( the big lone tree on the right)
You can even see the light in the distance
So, when we returned home I googled the event and found out a few interesting things.  The Lands End Tree is where they used to hang slaves back in civil war times and the area is filled with sightings of confederate and union soldier ghosts.  The coat and hat the man was wearing was almost identical to the color and style of union soldiers during the civil war.  So did we see a ghost?  I dont know but it is a fun story to tell anyhow and we definitively wont forget that vacation.

These Are A Few of My Favorite Things

My family is my favorite thing.  I have been in a relationship with my high school sweetheart since the age of 15.  We  have two sons, Faron age 12 and Kaden age 4.  Both are in school.  I hate winter and I usually hibernate during the winter months.  I catch up on reading and movies during that time.  I like all kinds of movies so its kind of hard to name a favorite.  If I had to choose one I would say "Last of the Mohicans".  I remember it from my childhood and have watched it a million times and still love it.  I like to read, mostly fantasy, science fiction, and horror, but not limited to those. Definitely could not choose one favorite book, but some of my favorites are:  "The Witching Hour" series, "Water for Elephants", "Behind Enemy Lines". I read Twilight and liked it, just for the record.  The movies not so much.  When I'm not hibernating I love to be outdoors.  We go to the mountains hiking, fishing, boating, and swimming every chance we get.  My favorite river is the Nantahala   in NC.  I have went down it twice in an inflatable kayak and it was super fun. So these are just a few of my favorite things.  I am still adding to the list.
